Marini, Steven Anthony

Steven Anthony Marini, 67, of New London, formerly Kennett Square, passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 15, surrounded by his family, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.

A 1977 graduate of Kennett High School, Steve went on to earn his Journeyman machinist accreditation and worked as a machinist until his well-earned retirement.

An avid outdoorsman, Steve enjoyed the Atglen Sportsman’s Club, where he was a longtime member. He loved hunting and fishing, as well as being in the woods and on the water. However, his greatest love was his family, and he always made sure they knew so. He took great pride in providing for his family’s every need. Steve was known for being a gentle giant with a great sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy (Ramsey) Marini and John Marini.

Steve is survived by his wife and best friend of nearly 48 years, Diana Marini; his children, Stefani Marini and husband Patrick Lafferty, Sara Sergovic and husband Shawn, and son Steven Marini. His two grandchildren, Sofia and Sebastian Sergovic, brought him much joy in recent years. He is also survived by his siblings, Sharon, Victor, Lisa, and John Jr.

Per his wishes, there will not be a funeral, rather a private cremation, and he will be returned home to his family.
