Joseph F. Giliberto, age 70, of Fenwick Island, Delaware, passed away peacefully at home in his sleep on September 10, 2026. Formerly of Wilmington, Delaware, Joseph graduated from Delcastle Technical High School in 1974. He joined Plumbers Local 26 out of high school. After many years in the union, Joseph took up welding and subsequentially joined the Pipefitters Local 74 from which he retired. He worked as a welder at various locations, including Park Place Apartments, Delaware City Refinery, Chrysler Assembly Plant and nuclear power plants in California.
Joseph enjoyed boating, fishing and crabbing in the Delaware Bay. He was an avid sports fan. His favorite sports teams were the Cincinnati Reds and the Los Angeles Rams. Johnny Bench and Roman Gabriel were his favorite sports figures. He went on many road trips travelling to various sporting events throughout the US and Canada.
He was predeceased by his parents Sebastiano and Louise Giliberto and his beloved dog Shadow.
Joseph is survived by his sister Victoria Tolton (Randy), his brothers Anthony Giliberto (Jeanie), and Charles Giliberto; nephews Anthony Giliberto (Melissa), Michael Giliberto (Cindi), Nicholas Tolton (Amanda), niece Stephanie Roseman (Zach), and great nieces Sadie and Riley Giliberto.
The services will be held on Wednesday, September 23 at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home located at 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington Delaware. Visitation from 10 am – 11:30 am with a funeral service at 11:30. Burial will follow the service at Cathedral Cemetery, 2400 Lancaster Ave. Wilmington, Delaware.
