Lewis, Janet M.

Janet M. Lewis, age 91, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away on July 24, 2026. Her husband of 53 years, Edward F. Lewis III, preceded her in death in 2008. She is survived by her son, Mark E. Lewis (Kathleen); her daughter, Karen L. Walker (Andrew); and her grandchildren, Amanda Lewis, Ashley Lewis, Caitlin Andrews (Tyler), and Sarah Walker (Cody Arthur).

Janet and her husband were owners of Edward F. Lewis & Sons Florist in Richardson Park, Delaware, a family business dating back to 1896. Together, they were deeply involved in the florist industry, both locally and nationally, through the FTD Association for many years. After graduating from Newark High School, Janet worked as a secretary for the University of Delaware. Growing up, she worked on her family’s farm in Red Lion, Delaware.

Janet and her husband loved to travel in their RV. They began traveling when their children were young and continued the tradition into their grandchildren’s years, cherishing the camping trips they took together as a family. They journeyed all over the United States and Canada, with some of Janet’s favorite trips being to Alaska, Banff in Alberta, Canada, Yellowstone and the Tetons, and the Grand Canyon.

Janet spent many hours knitting and crocheting afghans, scarves, and sweaters as gifts for her family. She was also a skilled seamstress, making most of her own clothes since she was petite. She enjoyed creating all kinds of crafts, which she later sold at local craft shows. She loved reading and tending to the flower gardens at her home.

Janet was a longtime member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, where she cherished seeing family and friends at Sunday services.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026 at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home (3710 Kirkwood Highway). Friends may call beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Silverbrook Cemetery.
