John C. Desmond, age 83, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2026.
He was born and raised in Wilmington, DE and was the son of the late Anne (Joyce) and Cornelius J. Desmond. John is a 1960 graduate of Salesianum School.
John was a master electrician. He worked for Dupont and CIBA Specialty Chemicals Corporation and retired from CIBA after 28 years. He then worked for S. J. Desmond Inc. electrical contractor.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marcy (Casey) Desmond; two children, Stephen J. Desmond (Valerie) and Julie L. Desmond. John was also preceded in death by his grandson, Dylan M. Desmond.
John was a loving husband and father always putting his family first. He was very happy when he retired and was able to work with his son for another ten years at S. J. Desmond Inc. He volunteered and was involved with Special Olympics with his daughter Julie and his wife Marcy.
John enjoyed the many beach trips to Dewey Beach that they took with the family. He also enjoyed all the years he hosted Christmas Dinner and backyard pool parties for the family.
A memorial service is planned for the late summer.
