Edith A. Peace, age 79, of Wilmington passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026. Edith had two brothers and was born in Chattanooga, TN to the late James McDonough and Geraldine Van Heuser McDonough. Edith enjoyed spending time with her family and adored her grandchildren. She also enjoyed the beach, cooking, baking and eating delicious food. She enjoyed working in the kitchen at Skyline Middle School and later became the kitchen manager at Heritage Elementary School. She loved being in the school environment, making friends with the school staff and watching the students grow. One of Edith’s many gifts was caring for others, which she did with dedication, patience and love.
Edith was preceded in death by her loving husband Wayne Peace and granddaughter Kirsten Nicole Peace. She is survived by her brothers James McDonough (Betsy) and David McDonough (Cheryl); sons, Matthew and Mark (Jessica); grandchildren Michael, Cassie, Jenna and Ashleigh and numerous nieces and nephews. She loved her family deeply and we likewise honor her in our loving memories.
Services will be held at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home (3710 Kirkwood Hwy. Wilmington, DE 19808) on Tuesday May 12 at 11 a.m. Friends and family may call beginning at 10 a.m. Interment at Gracelawn Memorial Park will be private.
