Dolores F. L. Barnes, age 86 of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side on Thursday, January 29, 2026
She was born and raised in Wilmington, DE and was the daughter of the late Stefaniam (Smu) and William H. Lort. Dolores graduated from Wilmington High School in 1958.
Throughout most of her life she worked for Morgan Stanley for over 30 years. Dolores retired in 2001 as a manager. She also worked a second job for over 20 years at the former Brooks Armor Car Service in the money room.
In Dolores’ young years she was an avid bowler and enjoyed going to the movies. She loved cats and dogs with one, and sometimes more, living in the house. Bringing Dolores the most joy, were the times her family gathered together.
She is survived by her three sons, Leon Duplanti (Wanda Ulmer), Kevin Duplanti and William Barnes (Donna); a daughter in law, Denice Duplanti, 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Dolores is also preceded in death by her son, Denis Duplanti and 5 siblings, Francis Lort, Steve Lort, Richard Lort, Thomas Lort and William Lort.
A viewing will be held on Monday, February 9 from 10-11 am at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington followed by a funeral service at 11. Burial will be at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.
