Agster, Dorothy D.

Dorothy D Agster, 97 years young, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2026, with her family by her side.

Born in Wilmington, DE to the late Herbert and Rose Deats, Dorothy grew up with a love for music and community, proudly participating in the drum and bugle corps. She graduated from Wilmington High School, and later married the love of her life Charles Agster, building a beautiful life together.

Dorothy worked for Central and Southwest until becoming a full-time mother and homemaker. She lovingly devoted herself to raising her two children, Chuck and Penny. Once they were in school, she returned to the workforce at Strawbridge and Clothier in the early 1980’s, where she met her best friend, Josephine Scorziello.

When her first grandchild was born Dorothy proudly “quit on the spot” to focus most on what mattered to her: family. “Mimi” as she became known to all poured her heart into caring for, and spoiling her grandchildren, who were truly the light of her life.

Dorothy lived a full life and stayed active well into her later years. She never missed her grandchildren’s basketball games, baseball games, swim meets or dance recitals. Summers down the beach were spent enjoying weekly bingo at Lewes Elks, while at home she was also a regular at Mill Creek Bingo. She was also a frequent visitor, or “donator” as she said to Delaware Park and Bally’s Dover casino.

Playing cards and sharing laughs with Josephine, whether at home or on their memorable 90th birthday Vegas trip, brought her great joy. Later in life, Dorothy found a love of adventure. She spent her 96th birthday on a cruise to Mexico, and 97th on a cruise to Bermuda. Remarkably active till a week before her passing, Mimi remained young in spirit, and few ever would believe her true age. She radiated joy, vitality and love throughout her life.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Charles with whom she shared 56 wonderful years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her two sisters Margaret Warner (Grant) and Josephine Gamble (Robert).

She will be deeply missed by her son Chuck Agster, his wife Jeanie White, and daughter Penny Nasuti (former husband Floyd). She is also survived by her 3 grandchildren, who were the light of her life, Ciara (Sean), Jordan and Nicholas Nasuti.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 3, at 12:00 p.m. at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington DE. 19808. Where friends may call beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Mill Creek Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary in Dorothy’s memory to P.O. Box 5034, Wilmington, DE 19808.
