Mary Jane Snyder, 88, formerly of Old Orchard Road in North Wilmington died on January 25, 2026.
Born in York, PA, Jane was the last of 5 children born to Lester and Lestie Wagner. She was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s College of Nursing and spent her professional career as a Registered Nurse, most recently working for Liberty Mutual and Genesis Health. Never one to sit still, Jane retired at age 76 and was able to enjoy travel, the beach, and visiting relatives. As the wife of a DuPont employee and mother to 3 active children, Jane also kept busy running the family home in addition to her fulltime nursing career.
Jane’s husband, William L. Snyder died in 2010; and she is survived by their daughter, Laura M. Wagner (David) and son, Keith W. Snyder (Chris); 9 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband Bill, Jane was preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Sue Snyder; her brother, Ray; and 3 sisters: Carrie, Ruth, and Edna.
Jane’s family extends their sincere appreciation to Harmony at Glasgow and Vitas Hospice for their care and support.
A viewing will be held from 10-11am, Saturday, February 14 at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, where a funeral service will follow at 11am. Interment at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests honoring Jane by sending a memorial donation to Alzheimer’s Association, DE Valley Chapter, 399 Market St., Suite 250, Philadelphia, PA19106 or to the Dementia Society of America, 188 N.
