In Loving Memory of Gladys Williams April 21, 1932 – August 22, 2025
Gladys, born to the late Selmer Pipkin and Landers Quick on April 21, 1932 in Clio, SC and peacefully departed this earthly life on Friday, August 22, 2025 at home in Middletown, DE. Gladys preceded in death by her brothers Raymond Pipkin and John Matthews and is survived by her children, Frederic Quick (Carol), Constance Quick, Lamar Williams, Virginia Williams and Dakota Williams. Her grandchildren Angela Groff (Eric), Xavier Williams, Marilyn Torres, Atlanta Williams, Armeer Williams (Anna), Armond Williams (Shaina), India Williams, Allaisia Williams, Jaima Walker (Norman), 17 Great Grandchildren and 10 Great-great grandchildren, a loving sister-in-law Julia Pipkin and God-daughter Patrice Lewis (Mike) 1nephew and 3 nieces and a host of supporting friends and extended family.
Gladys was a woman of faith who believed in God and embraced learning about various Christian denominations throughout her life. She was educated in the New York City public school system and later began a long and dedicated career with Owens-Illinois, working in both New Jersey and North Carolina until her retirement in 1997.
Following her retirement, Gladys made her home in Delaware, where she remained active and engaged in her community. She found joy in mentoring children at local elementary schools, crocheting, solving Sudoku puzzles, and cheering on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their sporting events.
Fondly known as the family historian, Gladys took great pride in preserving and sharing her family’s genealogy. She gathered and passed down generations of knowledge through her extensive research and heartfelt storytelling, ensuring the family’s legacy would live on.
Her wisdom, warmth, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A service will be held on Saturday August 30 at 9am at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803. Entombment will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, DE.
