Jennifer A. Freed, age 56, died on Monday, August 25, 2025 at home with her husband by her side.
Jennifer was born to Cynthia and Al Start and attended Dickinson High School, graduating in 1987. Jennifer loved animals, and spending time with her family, especially her husband, Dave Freed. Dave met Jen on July 24, 2016 and little did he know what a momentous day it was. Dave says, “We hit it off right away, one of those people you think you’ve known forever and we were inseparable from then on. She was my everything. I’m devastated and lost and don’t know what I’ll do without her. We fit like a glove. We were together for nine years and married for the last two. I will cherish those years forever along with loving her and missing her every day. I can’t believe she’s gone. My time with her was the happiest of my life, but way too short.
Jennifer was predeceased by her mother, Cynthia. She is survived by her husband Dave Freed, father Alan Start, son Alex Start, sister Pamela Letts (Gary), brother William Start (Maria), niece Jenna Riale (Chris), and nephew Ben Start (Nicole).
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 11 am at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808 where friends are invited to a viewing at 10 am. Interment will be private.
