Alison Franklin “Skip” Manns, Jr., age 82, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 10, with his family by his side.
Skip earned a liberal arts degree from Wesley College and a graduate degree in architectural engineering from Drexel University. He worked as an architect for several local firms before joining Hercules in Wilmington, where he retired after 19 years. Throughout his career, he also took on self-employed projects and continued working even after retirement.
Skip was a Past Master of Temple Masonic Lodge No. 11 in Wilmington and a founding member of the Ancient and Honorable Order of Turtles, Brandywine chapter.
A devoted Phillies and Eagles fan, Skip never missed a game. He was a golf cart enthusiast, a history buff, loved to travel and trace the family genealogy, and was an amateur landscape architect. Above all, he will be remembered as a beloved father of two, grandfather of five, and dog dad to many.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage; his sons, Steven (Sharada) and their children Maya and Priya, and Robert (Rebecca) and their children Ally, William, and Natalie; as well as his beloved dog, Ellie.
All services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Renee’s Rescues.
