Marguerite “Sis” I. Price, age 99 of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 15, 2025.
She was born and raised in Wilmington, DE and is the daughter of the late Margaret (Wright) and Henry A. George. Sis graduated from Wilmington High School in 1944 and received an associate degree from the former Goldey College.
Her first job was with the Dupont Company. During this time on a moonlight river cruise, she met the love of her life, Emil J. Price. They married and Sis raised the family. After her children grew, Sis returned to the workforce at Delaware Charter Guarantee & Trust for over 30 years and retired in 2000 where she worked on the Support Team.
She enjoys ceramics, gardening, bowling, singing; when at Dupont she was a member of the Dupont Cavalcade of America, cooking; as everyone enjoyed her famous onion rings and the company of her cats.Sis was a member at Richardson Park UMC. The most cherished moments were with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Her husband of 35 years, Emil J. Price, Sr. died in 1984. Sis is survived by her son Byrom I. Price (Suzanne); 3 grandchildren, Scott Price (Jennifer), Wendy Leary, and Abigail Price; 3 great-grandchildren, Kayla, Dennis, and Lila; a sister, Marlene Johnson (Dennis); and many nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by her son, Emil J. Price, Jr and 5 sisters, Marie Taylor, Anna Spencer, Henrietta Downward, Ruth Ziegenfuss and Carolyn Wootten.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 21 from 9-10 am at Peniel United Methodist Church, 115 E Market St, Wilmington, DE, where a funeral service will follow at 10 am. Burial will be at Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, DE
